Lukoil Arena, Football stadium in Pokrovskoye-Streshnevo District, Moscow, Russia.
Lukoil Arena is a football stadium in Pokrovskoye-Streshnevo District, Moscow. The stands accommodate around 45,000 spectators and are enclosed by four covered sections connected by red and white facade panels.
Construction began in 2007 but was repeatedly delayed by financial difficulties. The arena finally opened in September 2014 with a match between Spartak Moscow and Red Star Belgrade.
The red and white colors reflect the team colors of Spartak Moscow and mark the building throughout. Monuments near the north entrance honor the club's founding family and the legendary figure of Spartacus.
Two metro stations link the site to central Moscow: Spartak is a three-minute walk away. Tushinskaya lies around ten minutes on foot from the entrance and offers another arrival option for visitors.
The site stands on former Tushino Airport, which operated as a civil and military airfield until its closure. During the 2018 FIFA World Cup five matches took place here, and the stadium now also serves as a venue for international concerts.
