Senate and Sinod building, Government buildings in Russia
The Senate and Synod Buildings are a pair of historic government buildings in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
Built between 1829 and 1834, they were originally used by the Governing Senate, the highest judiciary in Imperial Russia, and the Holy Synod, the ecclesiastical body of the Russian Orthodox Church.
These neoclassical buildings are considered an important part of Russia's architectural heritage.
Today, they house the Constitutional Court of Russia and the Presidential Library.
The buildings are connected by a bridge known as the 'Arch of the Senate and Synod', which is a popular spot for tourists.
