Derbentsky District

Derbentsky District is an administrative division in southeastern Dagestan along the Caspian Sea. It contains two urban settlements and numerous rural communities that provide services to people living across the region.

The district was created in 1921 when Dagestan underwent administrative reorganization. Since then it has remained a governmental unit throughout the Soviet era and into modern Russia.

The people here speak Azerbaijani, Lezgin, Tabasaran, and other languages, with each community keeping their own traditions and customs. These different groups live alongside each other, shaping local life and celebrations throughout the district.
