Derbent Lighthouse, Stone lighthouse in Derbent, Russia.
The octagonal stone lighthouse stands 18.6 meters tall on the remains of the northern city wall, one kilometer from the current Caspian Sea coast.
Built in 1853 for steamship navigation, the lighthouse survived an earthquake in 1892 and military conflicts in 1918, maintaining its function through centuries.
The lighthouse represents the maritime legacy of Derbent, integrating with ancient fortification walls that date back several thousand years.
The lighthouse remains operational, with its beam reaching 18 nautical miles across the Caspian Sea, guiding vessels through the southern Russian waters.
Located between Stalsky and Nizami parks, this southernmost Russian lighthouse sits on the UNESCO World Heritage site of ancient Derbent.
