Serafimo-Diveyevsky Monastery, Orthodox monastery in Diveyevo, Russia.
The Serafimo-Diveyevsky Monastery is an Orthodox convent in Diveyevo, Diveyevsky District, Russia. The complex features multiple onion-domed churches, white convent buildings with green roofs, and a large walled courtyard with paved walkways.
A small community of sisters founded the settlement in the late 18th century and later received guidance from Seraphim of Sarov. Soviet authorities closed the monastic complex in 1927 and used the buildings for storage and offices until reopening in 1991.
Pilgrims from across Russia visit the main church to venerate the relics of Saint Seraphim. Many walk slowly along the sacred spring and follow age-old prayer rituals passed down through generations.
Visiting rules require modest dress, including covered shoulders and knees for all visitors. The complex is large, so plan several hours to explore the churches and gardens at a comfortable pace.
The cemetery on the grounds holds the graves of several nuns known for their prayer work. Visitors often leave small notes with requests at the graves, hoping for spiritual assistance.
