Church of Saint Gregory of Neocaesarea in Polyanka, Moscow

The Church of Saint Gregory of Neocaesarea in Polyanka is an Orthodox church in Moscow featuring a bell tower with a tent-shaped roof and five domes crowning the rectangular main structure. A refectory connects to the primary building, creating a unified composition.

A wooden church was first built in 1445 by Prince Vasily II following his return from Tatar captivity. The current stone structure dates to 1667 and represents the architectural evolution of the site.

The walls showcase intricate decorative elements, including nine thousand multicolored tiles featuring peacock-eye patterns created by craftsman Stepan Ivanov Polubes. These artistic details reflect the skill and devotion visible in every corner of the building.

The church is located on Bolshaya Polyanka Street near Polyanka metro station and is easily accessible. Regular services are held, and an Orthodox gymnasium provides religious education opportunities.

The exterior walls are painted with red ochre and white seams, giving the building a distinctive appearance. Inside, the church houses relics of Saint Gregory alongside the miraculous Bogolyubskaya Icon.
