Church of the Visitation in Saint Petersburg, Gothic Revival Catholic church in Kalininsky District, Russia.

The Church of the Visitation is a Gothic Revival church on Mineralnaya Street in the Kalininsky District of Saint Petersburg, featuring pointed arches and carved stone ornaments on the facade. It stands as part of a Catholic cemetery complex in a residential area of the northern city.

The church was designed by architect Nicholas Benois in the second half of the 19th century to serve the Catholic community of European residents living in Saint Petersburg at the time. It was built as part of a larger funerary complex intended for Western Christian believers in the city.

The church serves a small Catholic community in Saint Petersburg today, hosting regular worship and gatherings for local believers. It stands as a visible presence of Western Christianity in a predominantly Orthodox city.

The church sits in the northern part of Saint Petersburg and is easiest to reach by bus or metro, as the area around Mineralnaya Street has limited parking. Visiting outside of service hours allows a calmer look at the exterior and the surrounding cemetery grounds.

Nicholas Benois, who designed the church, came from a family of artists with French roots, and he brought a style to Saint Petersburg that feels more at home in Western Europe than in Russia. This contrast makes the building one of the rare examples of Western church architecture in a city defined by Orthodox domes.
