Church of the Theotokos of Vladimir

The Church of the Theotokos of Vladimir stands with two symmetrical towers and spires, featuring pointed arches and white stone cladding throughout its exterior.

Built between 1783 and 1788 on the Bykovo estate for Mikhail Izmaylov, the church design is attributed to architect Vasily Bazhenov with modifications by Matvey Kazakov.

The church contains two sanctuaries on separate floors: the upper church dedicated to the Vladimir Icon and the lower church dedicated to the Nativity of Christ.

Visitors can reach the church by taking an electric train from Moscow Kazansky Station to Udelnaya Station, followed by a 1.5-kilometer walk to the site.

The oval-shaped structure combines Russian cross-dome architecture with Gothic elements, creating a distinct interpretation of ecclesiastical design in 18th-century Russia.
