Zamok Borki

Zamok Borki is a stone castle with tall towers, pointed arches, ribbed vaults, and flying buttresses set within the landscape of Lipetsk Oblast. The building combines Gothic features with Russian architectural forms and shapes the appearance of the surrounding area.

Grand Duke Andrei Vladimirovich of Russia commissioned architect Alexandre von Hohen in 1902 to build this residence as a symbol of nobility. The castle emerged during a period when Russian aristocrats were integrating European design into their buildings.

The castle blends Russian aristocratic tradition with Western European Gothic style, showing cultural exchange from the early 1900s. Visitors can see this mix today in the walls and towers, which tell the story of two worlds coming together.

Access is through organized tours from Lipetsk operating during daytime hours, providing transportation. Best visiting times are sunny days when you can see the architecture and surroundings clearly.
