Байрачный лес, Natural monument in Sarpinsky District, Russia.
Bayrachny Forest is a protected natural monument in the Godzhur ravine in Kalmykia, home to silver poplars, oak trees, and white acacia. The forest canopy creates shade along the Arshan-Zelmen river, where various shrubs and herbs grow beneath the taller trees.
The forest received protected status in 1981 under Godzhur Forestry management. This designation helped preserve an area where rare regional plant species naturally thrive.
The forest serves as an educational center where researchers study the diverse flora, including mint, asparagus, and Astrakhan cinquefoil species.
Spring and summer are the best times to visit when the vegetation is most active and visible. Access is through marked trails that guide visitors safely through the protected woodland area.
The forest features groundwater with low mineralization levels between 0.322 and 0.431 grams per liter, supporting specific vegetation growth conditions.
