Tsaritsyno Palace Building, Palace in Orekhovo-Borisovo Severnoye District, Moscow, Russia

Tsaritsyno Palace Building is a red and white structure with pointed towers perched on elevated ground, combining classical and Gothic architectural styles. The interior contains multiple exhibition spaces and decorated halls that serve as the main areas for displaying historical collections.

The structure originated from Catherine II's commission, but she rejected the initial design by Vasily Bazhenov and brought in Matvey Kazakov to create an entirely different plan. After decades of neglect, the building underwent comprehensive restoration in the early 2000s.

The exhibition rooms showcase works from the Romantic and Classical periods that visitors can experience in their original architectural setting. Collections and decorative pieces tell the story of aristocratic life and tastes during those eras.

Visitors can use audio guides available in Russian and English to navigate through the various exhibition areas. It is wise to wear comfortable shoes, as exploring the multi-level rooms involves considerable walking.

The complex stood incomplete with a temporary black roof for decades and locals humorously called it the 'Giant's Coffin' because of its massive, unfinished appearance. This dark chapter of neglect later made it a notable landmark in the city's transformation story.
