Кутса, Regional nature reserve in Kandalaksha District, Russia
The Kutsa Reserve is a protected nature area in Kandalaksha District within Murmansk Oblast. It contains the Tumcha and Kutsayoki rivers along with several lakes spread across the territory.
The area received protection status as a natural park in 1938 when it was part of Finland. It later transitioned to become a regional reserve under Russian administration in 1994.
The Pyhakyuru gorge holds spiritual meaning for the Sami people who have long inhabited this land. You can feel how this place remains important to their connection with nature.
To enter the reserve, you need permission from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of Murmansk Oblast. It is best to arrange this authorization before your visit.
The reserve is home to eleven different fish species including brown trout and pike in its waters. This diversity makes it an important habitat for aquatic wildlife.
