Meshchyora National Park

Meshchyora National Park is a large protected area in Vladimir Oblast that encompasses wetlands, dense pine-birch forests, rivers, and lakes across the Meshchyora lowland. The territory covers roughly 118,900 hectares with a variety of habitats and landscape types.

The area was inhabited as far back as the Middle Stone Age, with archaeological finds dating from the 7th to 3rd millennium BC. These early traces show that people adapted to life in this wetland and forest landscape for thousands of years.

Local people practice traditional crafts deeply connected to this land, such as weaving willow, building wooden boats, and making birch bark objects. These skills have shaped life here for generations and remain visible in everyday activities throughout the region.

Visitors can explore marked trails throughout the year, with guided tours available from information centers at multiple entry points. Access is possible from different locations, allowing you to choose routes based on your interests and available time.

The park features a tourist complex called Khrustalny with an impressive butterfly collection and detailed landscape models of the protected area. This exhibition offers an unexpected way to understand the region's diversity in one place.
