Novo-Alekseevsky convent, Orthodox monastery in Krasnoselsky District, Russia.
The Novo-Alekseevsky Convent is an Orthodox monastery in the Krasnoselsky District that houses two surviving churches: St Alexius Man of God's Church and All Saints Church. The Third Ring Road runs through the former convent grounds, dividing these two structures.
The convent was founded in 1360 by Metropolitan Alexius and underwent several relocations before settling in Krasnoe Selo in 1837. After closure during the Soviet period, both churches reopened to visitors in 1991.
The convent displays traditional Russian Orthodox architecture through its 19th-century churches with intricate religious design elements. Worshippers continue to gather here for prayer and spiritual practice in their daily lives.
The monastery complex is located at 2nd Krasnoselsky Lane, building 1, and can be reached after passing through the modern ring road. It helps to plan visits to both churches separately since they sit on opposite sides of the street.
The Third Ring Road unexpectedly splits the former convent grounds, separating the two remaining churches within the modern city infrastructure. This unusual street layout through the religious site creates a striking contrast between historical and contemporary architecture.
