Nechkinsky National Park

Nechkinsky National Park is a protected area in the Udmurt Republic that spans across tens of thousands of hectares and includes forests, river floodplains, and reservoirs. The landscape sits in the Kama valley and blends different terrain types like bogs, wetlands, and elevated forest zones.

The territory was inhabited thousands of years ago and contains archaeological traces of hunters and early cultures from antiquity. These settlements belonged to groups that lived along rivers and forests, leaving behind tools and dwelling sites buried in the soil.

The park sits near Votkinsk, a town tied to Finno-Ugric heritage and traditions that shaped how people lived alongside river and forest. Local communities have long drawn on this landscape for food and shelter, and traces of these connections remain visible in how the land is used.

Visitors need to obtain a written permit from the forest administration before using trails and routes in the park. It helps to check beforehand what season and weather conditions suit your planned visit.

The area contains a large bog with special conditions where rare plants grow and unique wildlife lives. Beneath the surface lie natural mineral springs whose water is enriched with minerals and valued by local communities.
