Museum for Railway Technology Novosibirsk

The Museum for Railway Technology Novosibirsk is a collection of locomotives, carriages, and railway equipment from Western Siberia spread across several kilometers of grounds. The exhibition displays vehicles and machinery that document the region's railroad history.

The museum opened in 2000 after railway veterans campaigned for a facility to preserve historic vehicles from the experimental testing grounds. The founding effort came from a desire to safeguard the region's railroad heritage for future generations.

The collection displays passenger cars from different eras, including a surgical train from World War II and an imperial-period train with oak furnishings. Visitors can see how railway travel and transport evolved across generations.

The grounds are extensive and require sturdy footwear and time to explore all exhibits. Visitors should plan for a full visit and be mindful that Western Siberia's weather affects conditions on site.

The collection includes over 100 railway exhibits alongside Soviet-era automobiles, trucks, tractors, and all-terrain vehicles from the 19th century onward. This mix reveals how transportation and movement worked in the region across different decades.
