Парк Победы, Memorial park in central Tver, Russia
Victory Park is a green space in central Tver planted with linden, birch, oak, elm, apple, ash, and maple trees throughout its grounds. The Lazur River borders the park to the north, while Volokolamsky Avenue runs along the east side, with residential areas and Victory Avenue creating the other boundaries.
The park was established in 1975 on the grounds of a former apple orchard to mark the 30th anniversary of the war's end. This choice connected the new public space with remembrance of a defining moment in Soviet history.
The park's name reflects the Soviet victory in World War II and shapes how the city remembers this pivotal moment in its past. Monuments and memorial markers throughout the grounds bring this historical significance into the everyday landscape.
The park is best explored on foot, with paths leading through tree-lined areas and connecting different sections throughout the grounds. Visitors should watch for slippery surfaces after rain and plan for weather conditions, as there is limited shelter from the elements.
Since 2008, the grounds have hosted urban sprint orienteering competitions held during the annual Tver Parks Cup. This event draws athletes testing their ability to navigate quickly through the park's paths and tree-filled areas.
