Покровская церковь

Pokrovskaya Church is a brick-built Orthodox structure featuring five domes and a three-tiered bell tower in Tula. The building displays classical Orthodox architectural style with religious iconography integrated into its design.

A wooden church that once occupied the site was replaced by this stone structure during the 17th century. Significant reconstruction took place over the following years, concluding with the church's consecration in September 1790.

The church served as a spiritual center for the local community and attracted worshippers from across the city. Its role extended to hosting religious education and providing a gathering place for Orthodox believers.

Wealthy merchants of the city commissioned a notable collection of religious icons crafted with precious materials for the church. This collection represented significant artistic patronage before the building's closure in 1932.
