Relic woods, Protected natural monument in Mullovka, Russia
Relic Woods is a protected natural monument in Ulyanovsk Oblast featuring two distinct forest types side by side. Linden trees form the dominant vegetation across the site, with birch trees making up a smaller portion of the woodland.
The woodland was designated as a protected monument in 1976 to preserve forest stands approximately 80 to 100 years in age. This age range represents the historical forest composition of the region.
The conservation status reflects Russian dedication to protecting natural heritage, with strict regulations prohibiting management activities and scientific research within its boundaries.
The site is quite small and can be explored easily on foot. Visitors should respect marked areas and observe protection rules that strictly limit activities within the forest.
The forest maintains two separate wood pulp storage capacities: 310 cubic meters per hectare in one section and 380 cubic meters per hectare in another.
