Church of the Holy Mandylion at Kuntsevo Cemetery

The Church of the Holy Mandylion is a five-domed Orthodox structure located within Kuntsevo Cemetery near the Setun River in Moscow. The building displays traditional Orthodox architecture with its distinctive domes and stands surrounded by burial grounds and gravestones.

Artamon Matveyev commissioned this religious structure in 1676, establishing it as a central place of worship in the area. The church has served as an important religious site over the centuries and stands as a remnant from Moscow's earlier period.

The church serves as a gathering place where locals come to pray and observe Orthodox traditions. The five domes visible against the sky reflect the spiritual customs that have shaped the area for generations.

The cemetery grounds are accessible via Ryabinovaya Street 18, providing straightforward access to the church. Visitors should prepare for uneven terrain and weather conditions that vary throughout the seasons.

The cemetery holds the burial site of Soviet spy Kim Philby, whose presence here remained largely unknown to many visitors. The naval officer Vsevolod Bobrov is also buried within these grounds.
