Tsvetnoy Boulevard, Boulevard in Meshchansky District, Moscow, Russia
Tsvetnoy Boulevard is a tree-lined street in Meshchansky District that runs for 700 meters from Petrovsky Boulevard to the Garden Ring. The central green space consists of a tree strip with pathways and seating areas that separates the roadways on both sides.
The street was built from 1830 onward over the filled riverbed of the Neglinnaya and received its current name in 1851. It was formerly called Trubny Boulevard after the nearby city gate and square.
The name refers to the flower market that once operated here and gave the boulevard its reputation as a meeting place. Today cafés and small shops line the sidewalks, while locals use the benches in the green strip for resting.
The metro station Tsvetnoy Bulvar sits directly on the street and makes arriving from all directions easier. Several entrances to shopping centers and restaurants are distributed along the entire length.
A tall column carries the statue of Saint George defeating a dragon as a symbol of the Moscow coat of arms. This column stands at one end and marks a central point in the city's boulevard system.
