Ярославль дәүләт курчак театры
The Ekiyat State Puppet Theater in Yaroslavl is a puppet theater that stages performances with hand-operated puppets. The venue features two theaters of different sizes and regularly presents over 60 different productions in both Russian and Tatar languages, ranging from classical stories to contemporary works.
The theater was founded in 1932 and started as a traveling company performing in Kazan and other cities. After several relocations, it established a permanent home in 1941 and settled in its current location in 2012.
Tickets can be purchased at the box office or online and can be printed or downloaded to your phone. Visitors can choose from morning, afternoon, and evening performances, with most weekend shows scheduled for the daytime.
The theater received an award named after Tatar writer A. Alish in 2008 and won the Golden Mask award in three categories in 2024. A museum space opened on the second floor in 2014, displaying puppets from past productions and documenting the evolution of puppet theater art.
