Church of Our Lady of the Joy of All Who Sorrow on Bolshaya Ordynka

The Church of Our Lady of the Joy of All Who Sorrow on Bolshaya Ordynka is a yellow brick building with a rounded central section, a tall dome, and a three-tiered bell tower. The structure shows classical and Empire-style architectural features throughout its design.

A wooden church originally stood on this site in the 16th century before being replaced by a stone building in 1683. The present Empire-style structure was created when architect Joseph Bove redesigned the church during the 1820s and 1830s.

The church takes its name from a revered icon of Mary that has drawn believers for centuries and remains visible inside. This holy image continues to shape the place's identity and draws people seeking comfort.

The church opens regularly for religious services and houses a community center with educational offerings. Visitors should respect the standard customs observed at places of worship, particularly during service times.

Inside the church, a large cast-iron floor ornament designed by Joseph Bove has survived intact to the present day. This artistic detail was deliberately protected and preserved during later renovations rather than replaced.
