Karasan

Karasan is a villa designed in Moorish Revival style with ornate loggias, granite columns, and decorative windows overlooking the Black Sea. The entire property spreads across a large estate with a park containing numerous plant species.

General Borozdin founded the estate in 1820 while working with directors from Nikita Botanical Garden and Saint Petersburg Botanical Garden to design its grounds. Since 1924, it has operated as a sanatorium and served as a medical facility.

The building shows a blend of influences from different regions, with wooden balconies and Moorish details inspired by the Palace of Bakhchisarai visible throughout. These design choices are recognizable today in the ornate loggias and decorated windows that face the coast.

The property sits directly on the coast and is easily accessible in good weather. The large park allows for extended walks and exploration of its different zones.

The park on the grounds contains around 220 plant species, including a rare collection of pine trees, olive trees, cypress, and bamboo growing along the coast. This diverse flora was carefully cultivated to create a Mediterranean feeling in the region.
