Military University of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation

The Military University of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation occupies multiple buildings in central Moscow and offers specialized training programs across 53 departments and 10 faculties. The institution combines military education with academic courses in different disciplines.

The institution was founded in 1919 as the Teaching Institute of the Red Army and initially trained military instructors. During World War II it expanded its curriculum to include foreign language instruction for military purposes.

The Institute of Military Band Conductors maintains a Cadet Band that performs at national ceremonies and international military music festivals. Students learn both military music traditions and contemporary performance techniques during their training.

The facility has specialized laboratories and training areas for different military disciplines. Instruction takes place in 22 foreign languages and is conducted by experienced military personnel.

The university operates 11 dissertation councils that award academic degrees in different military fields. It also accepts international students from Commonwealth states and selected Arab nations for military education programs.
