Vinogradovo Estate, Federal cultural heritage estate in Severny District, Russia
Vinogradovo Estate consists of two wooden mansions from the early 20th century connected by a glass-enclosed passageway, situated within landscaped gardens. The complex includes supporting structures such as a horse yard, cattle yard, cellar, workers' club, and entrance gates, all dating to the 1910s.
The property originated in 1623 as a Pushkin family holding, including Gabriel Pushkin, an ancestor of poet Alexander Pushkin. By the late 1700s, under the Benckendorff family, it had become a flourishing center of Russian intellectual life.
The estate served as a gathering place for Russian writers and intellectuals in the late 1700s who came to exchange ideas. Under the Benckendorff family, it became an active center of intellectual life.
The grounds are best explored on foot, allowing you to discover the different buildings and garden areas at your own pace. The paths are well-maintained and navigation between structures is straightforward, with large open sections throughout the complex.
The estate features a cascade system with the Long Pond on the Meryanka River that contains an island and is surrounded by predominantly lime trees. This water landscape shapes the character of the place in subtle and refreshing ways.
