Bisha governorate, Administrative division in southwestern Saudi Arabia
Bisha governorate is an administrative division in Asir Province, southwestern Saudi Arabia. It covers several hundred villages and settlements spread across the Bisha valley and the surrounding plateaus.
The region became part of Asir Province after having been administered independently. This administrative reorganization changed the structure of governance in the southwestern part of the country.
The inhabitants of Bisha maintain agricultural traditions centered around date palm cultivation, with three million trees producing fruits distributed throughout neighboring cities.
The valley sits at an elevation of around six hundred meters and receives drinking water from a large dam. Roads connect the scattered settlements to the provincial capital and neighboring governorates.
The valley extends for six hundred and fifty kilometers northward and forms one of the longest wadis on the Arabian Peninsula. It eventually merges with the valleys of Ranya and Tathlith.
