Asir National Park

Asir National Park is a nature reserve in Asir Province featuring coastal plains, granite foothills, deep wadis, and mountains reaching 3,200 meters in elevation. The terrain showcases diverse landscapes across a compact area.

The Saudi government established this park in 1981 as the country's first protected area. This creation marked the beginning of organized conservation efforts in the region.

The surrounding villages display stone towers and painted wooden window frames that reflect construction methods shared among local families for centuries. You can see this traditional architecture while moving through the valleys and settlements near the reserve.

Abha International Airport provides the main access point, with connections to Riyadh, Jeddah, and Taif. From there you can reach the park area and surrounding villages easily.

The reserve contains distinct plant zones ranging from coastal mangroves through acacia woodlands to juniper forests above 1,600 meters. This progression lets visitors experience multiple ecosystems during a single trip.
