Torpa stenhus, Medieval castle in Tranemo Municipality, Sweden
The stone fortress stands near Lake Åsunden, featuring a Renaissance interior with grisaille wall paintings and a baroque chapel on the ground floor.
Built in 1470 by Arvid Knutsson as a defense against Danish forces, the castle underwent major renovations during the 16th and 17th centuries.
The residence belonged to the noble Stenbock family and housed Catherine Stenbock, the third wife of King Gustav I of Sweden.
Visitors can join guided tours, attend craft demonstrations, dine at the restaurant serving local game, and explore the castle's various rooms.
The castle maintains its original wooden walls, which were temporarily removed when the building served as a granary in the 19th century.
