Olofström, Industrial town in Blekinge County, Sweden
Olofström is a town in Blekinge County centered around Nya Torget square, where shops and buildings face a waterfront marked by the Holjeån river flowing through. The layout combines older industrial structures with residential neighborhoods spreading across the valley floor.
The settlement started around 1735 with an ironworks called Petrefors Bruk, which later renamed itself Olofströms Bruk and became the region's main employer. This factory shaped generations of workers and turned the place into a metalworking hub for southern Sweden.
The name comes from the river bend where the Holjeån flows through the settlement, and locals built their lives around the ironworks community. Small shops and family-run businesses today reflect how residents have kept their industrial heritage alive in daily commerce.
The town sits on Road 15 with regular bus service from Blekingetrafiken connecting it to surrounding areas. The nearest airports at Kristianstad and Ronneby are within a short drive, making it easy to reach by different routes.
Nordenbergs gymnasium is home to Sweden's only archery school and one of the few orienteering training programs in the nation. This rare combination draws students from across the country who want to train in these specialized sports.
