Anundshög, Ancient burial ground near Västerås, Sweden
The burial mound measures 60 meters in diameter and rises 9 meters high, featuring stone circles, monoliths, and five stone ship formations.
Archaeological investigations reveal a fireplace beneath the mound, dating between 210 and 540 CE, indicating continuous occupation during the Iron Age period.
The runestone inscription at the site documents familial connections, mentioning Folkvid who raised stones in memory of his son Heden, brother of Anund.
The site includes information panels in Swedish, English, German, and French, with free access throughout the year for visitors exploring the grounds.
Two substantial stone ships, measuring 51 and 54 meters in length, lie at the base of the mound, marking possible ancient ceremonial gathering spaces.
