Sturehov Manor, Stately home in Botkyrka, Sweden.
Sturehov is a stately home in Botkyrka featuring a rectangular two-story building with a three-part extension and a central garden section. The house contains exhibition spaces with period furniture and decorative objects, along with a year-round cafe called Voltaire & Vänner.
Originally named Averhulta in medieval times, the estate passed to Svante Stensson Sture in 1562 through an exchange with the Swedish Crown. This transfer to the Sture family marked the start of its development as a significant manor property.
The manor displays Gustavian interior design with Neoclassical elements, particularly in an octagonal dining room with painted marble walls and reliefs. Visitors can experience the elaborate decoration and room arrangement of this era directly.
The manor is easy to reach and offers access to the Voltaire & Vänner cafe throughout the year for a break during your visit. The exhibition spaces are open to visitors interested in exploring the various collections and furnishings.
The house holds Sweden's largest collection of Marieberg tile stoves, featuring 17 pieces including the renowned Liljencrantz Fireplace. This historic stove was even featured on a Swedish postage stamp.
