Nora Municipality

Nora Municipality extends across 690 square kilometers of central Sweden, containing both urban settlements and natural landscapes with forests and lakes.

The municipality underwent significant administrative changes in 1971 when the City of Nora transformed into a unified municipal entity within Örebro County.

The municipality preserves numerous wooden structures from the 1800s, forming part of the Three Wooden Towns network alongside Eksjö and Hjo.

The municipality contains several localities including Gyttorp, Järnboås, Pershyttan, and Striberg, with transportation links connecting them to the administrative center.

Sweden's first standard-gauge railway opened in 1856 between Nora and Ervalla, now operating as a museum line for visitors and railway enthusiasts.
