Nora Bergslags veteran railway, Heritage railway in Nora Municipality, Sweden.
Nora Bergslags veteran railway is a heritage line running about 57 kilometers with both steam and diesel locomotives on standard gauge track. The route connects several stations through the industrial region and preserves the original infrastructure from the mining era.
The line opened in 1856 and became essential for moving ore and goods from mining operations throughout the Bergslagen region. Operations shifted over the decades until the route was eventually preserved as a heritage railway for visitors.
The railway follows routes through industrial regions where locomotives and vintage cars recall the era when mining shaped daily life in Bergslagen. Stations and depots show how people once traveled and goods moved through the landscape.
The railway operates from April through September with rides available for visitors. Special journeys are scheduled on select weekends and during particular events throughout the season.
The railway complex including tracks and buildings received official protection as a heritage site in 2005. This recognition makes it one of the best-preserved examples of 19th century industrial rail infrastructure in the region.
