Månstorp Gables

Månstorp is a castle ruin in Vellinge featuring standing stone walls and gables surrounded by a defensive moat system. The remains belong to a three-story Renaissance building with visible foundations and fortification elements.

The castle was built between 1540 and 1547 by Danish Governor Eskil Bille and later passed from Danish to Swedish control. It was destroyed in 1678, leaving the ruins that remain visible today.

The castle structure incorporated a grand knight's hall with large windows and glazed tile floors on the second level of the building.

The site is open to visitors with pathways around the ruins that you can explore freely. Summer concerts are regularly held here, making it a good time to visit if you enjoy events combined with historic surroundings.

The renowned naturalist Carl von Linné visited the ruins in 1749 and recorded his observations of the moat and high walls. His documented visit shows that these remains attracted the attention of scholarly figures even in the 1700s.
