Hykjeberget

Hykjeberget is a mountain summit in Älvdalen reaching 594 meters above sea level, marked by a 100-meter vertical cliff of porphyry rock mixed with sandstone layers. This rock face is the most noticeable feature when you approach or climb the mountain.

In 1734, botanist Carl von Linné visited the mountain to document plant species, finding many that were uncommon for the area. This early scientific visit established the site's botanical importance.

A stone bench at the summit marks a local community's wedding gift to Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia in 2016. This personal connection links the mountain to the royal family and strengthens its meaning for the region.

The northern entrance via Klittenvägen provides a parking area with picnic tables and clear directional signs for visitors. The marked hiking trail to the summit takes roughly 20 minutes to complete.

The mountain is home to over 40 linden trees, forming one of the largest populations of this species in Dalarna. This thriving growth is thanks to the warm microclimate at the site.
