Junsele Zoo, Animal park in Junsele District, Sweden
Junsele Zoo is an animal facility in northern Sweden housing around 25 species such as tigers, lynxes, lemurs, and meerkats in specialized habitats. The grounds display different environments suited to each animal type.
The facility was founded in 1965 by a local sports club and came under municipal management in 1969. Later it relocated to new grounds and received updated facilities.
The zoo lets visitors encounter northern animals through programs that focus on local predator species. These direct interactions help people develop a connection with the wildlife in their own region.
The zoo is easy to reach and offers free parking plus a cafe-style buffet with outdoor seating for visitors. The grounds are fully accessible, so people with mobility challenges can enjoy all areas.
The zoo is home to white tigers and rare white moose, two remarkable animals visitors rarely see elsewhere. Additionally, Lokeland is a large playground with bouncy castles and carnival rides that particularly draws children.
