Jaktstuguskogen, Nature reserve in Södermanland County, Sweden.
Jaktstuguskogen is a nature reserve in Södermanland County covering about 50 hectares of terrain. Its foundation consists of a mature spruce forest with uneven ground, sunken areas, and abundant standing dead trees that support diverse woodland life.
The land functioned as pasture from the 1700s through the 1800s before transitioning to protected status. In 1919, Eric von Rosen secured its designation as the first natural monument in Södermanland.
The land served as pasture grounds from the 18th century until the late 19th century before its transformation into a protected natural area.
A main trail of approximately 2.5 kilometers connects the parking area to Jaktstugusjön Lake through the reserve. Camping and open fires are prohibited throughout the area to preserve its natural state.
The reserve is home to fifteen red-listed moss and fungus species alongside multiple woodpecker varieties that inhabit the older forest sections. These organisms depend on the standing dead trees that provide essential microhabitats.
