Kyrkhamn, Historical settlement in Stockholm, Sweden.
Kyrkhamn is a historical settlement in the northwest of Stockholm, stretching across about 107 hectares between Hässelby Villastad and Järfälla. The area combines built-up zones with open green spaces and forms part of a larger network of natural areas.
The area first appeared in records from 1682, connected to a large burial mound where sailors were laid to rest. By the late 1800s, it developed as a village for quarry workers.
The area became an artistic hub in the 1970s when a painter established studios and workshops there. Since then, it has developed into a place where creative people live and work together.
The area is accessible through a network of walking paths that allow you to explore the green spaces and open areas. Visitors can reach different parts on foot, as the paths are well laid out.
The area contains some 20 ancient monuments scattered across the landscape. These sites tell the story of long human presence in this part of Stockholm.
