Lenaborg

Lenaborg is a medieval castle situated on Varvsberget mountain, with stone foundations spread across the northern slope. The remains reveal the building's layout with distinct rooms and structures distributed across the hillside terrain.

The castle was built around 1250 as a palace for one of medieval Sweden's most powerful figures. The site gradually fell into disuse as the original owners' power diminished over the following decades.

The site served as a residence for one of medieval Sweden's most influential families and demonstrates construction skills that were advanced for its era. Visitors can observe today how stones were fitted together and imagine the daily operations that once took place within these foundations.

The site is accessible via several hiking trails that lead up the mountainside from different starting points. Visitors should wear sturdy footwear since the paths cross uneven terrain with stones and tree roots.

Beneath the visible stone remains lie sophisticated drainage systems that reveal how carefully the original structure was engineered. Archaeological work also uncovered specialized kitchen areas built with different types of stone, indicating skilled planning.
