Stockholm Telephone tower, Steel telecommunications tower in Norrmalm, Sweden
The Stockholm Telephone Tower stretched 80 meters into the sky, featuring four turrets and a quadrangular metallic structure designed by Fritz Eckert.
The tower, constructed in 1887, connected 5,500 telephone lines throughout Stockholm until underground cables made it unnecessary in 1913.
The structure represented a period of rapid technological growth in Stockholm, marking the transition from aerial to underground telecommunications systems.
Located at Malmskillnadsgatan 32, the tower served as an advertising platform for Nordiska Kompaniet after its telecommunications use ended in 1939.
A fire in July 1952 damaged the structure to such an extent that authorities decided to demolish it the following year.
