Hästskon 12, Office complex at Sergels torg, Stockholm, Sweden
Hästskon 12 is an office complex made up of three connected buildings positioned along Sveavägen, Malmskillnadsgatan, and Hamngatan in Stockholm. Underground levels beneath the streets link to a network of pedestrian passages and retail areas surrounding Sergels torg.
Built between 1963 and 1966 according to architect Kjell Ödeen's designs, the structure served as Skandinaviska Bank headquarters. The building represents a significant example of Stockholm's post-war urban development and modernist architecture.
The name Hästskon comes from a historic inn that once occupied this site. The viaduct carrying Malmskillnadsgatan above creates an unusual urban experience where pedestrians move through multiple levels within the same city block.
The ground floors contain retail spaces accessible from street level. Multiple entrances lead to the underground passages, making it easy to move between the street and the lower shopping levels.
The street Malmskillnadsgatan crosses over the complex as a viaduct, running directly above the roof. This unusual arrangement preserves the original street grid and creates an interesting layering of city infrastructure.
