Ånhammar

Ånhammar is a historic timber building in Gnesta Municipality situated prominently on a hill, featuring traditional Swedish architectural elements such as wooden facades and a gabled roof. The main structure underwent renovations between 2015 and 2020 that added a kitchen, sauna area, outdoor patio, and workspace while retaining its historical character.

The building was constructed in the 1630s and underwent major changes in the 1910s when architects Sigurd Lewerentz and Torsten Stubelius converted the cold attic into living quarters. This renovation shaped the structure for many decades and established its continued use.

The building displays traditional Swedish craftsmanship through its timber frame construction, with wood sourced directly from the surrounding estate. This approach shapes how the structure looks and relates to its setting today.

The site stands on a hillside and is easy to locate with its traditional architecture serving as a good visual reference point. Visitors should know the surroundings enclose the structure and multiple areas are available to explore.
