Ystads Teater

Ystads Teater is a theatre building in Ystad with an auditorium holding 460 seats arranged in a horseshoe shape that follows 19th-century court theatre design. The space maintains this classical layout that keeps audiences close to the stage.

The building was constructed in 1894 near the harbor and underwent complete renovation in 1994 to restore its original 19th-century appearance. This restoration brought the structure back to its early state.

The theatre presents over 200 annual events, including concerts, children's shows, dance performances, operettas, festivals, and stand-up comedy for 45,000 visitors.

The venue is easy to reach on foot and fully accessible for wheelchair users throughout. Tickets can be purchased online or at the box office.

The stage house still operates original 19th-century stage machinery, and the collection includes historical backdrops from Carl Ludvig Grabow's Stockholm workshop. These vintage sets are still used during performances.
