Ängsholm, Manor house in Södertälje Municipality, Sweden
Ängsholm is a white manor house built in classical Swedish style, with symmetrical windows and a central entrance, located in Södertälje Municipality. Beyond the main building, the estate also holds a farm, a hotel, a marina, and a golf course on the same grounds.
The manor traces its origins to the 13th century and was rebuilt and expanded several times before taking its current form. Since 1841, the same family has owned and managed the property across six generations.
The interior rooms display furniture and decorative objects from different centuries placed side by side, which gives a clear sense of how each generation left its mark. Walking through the house feels like reading a slow accumulation of personal choices rather than a designed display.
The estate covers a large area with several separate zones, so it helps to get a sense of the layout before you start exploring. Depending on what you want to see, it is worth planning which part to visit first, as the farm, marina, and golf course are not all on the same path.
During restoration work on the ground floor, specialists found the original paint colors hidden under layers of later coats, and used them as a direct guide for the work. This meant each room could be returned to exactly the state it was in when first decorated.
