Kočevski rog - Baza 20, Military camp and monument in Dolenjske Toplice, Slovenia.
Baza 20 is a military camp and monument located on the forested plateau of Kočevski Rog, consisting of wooden barracks connected by pathways through the dense vegetation. The structures are spread across the terrain and form a functional complex from World War II.
The site was established during World War II as a central command post for Slovenia's National Liberation Movement, housing around 140 people by late 1943. It served as one of several hidden command centers that operated in the forest during the conflict.
The barracks display exhibitions about resistance activities, medical care, and how the Slovene liberation movement organized its operations from this forest location. Visitors can see how daily life and work functioned in this hidden command center.
Guided tours depart from the nearby Lukov Dom information center, where visitors can watch a documentary about the site's wartime role. The complex is accessible on foot, with trails leading through the forest, so sturdy footwear is advisable.
The site is one of only three remaining partisan command centers from a network of bases that operated in the Kočevski Rog forest during World War II. This rarity illustrates how isolated resistance centers functioned and organized their operations.
