Our Lady of the Annunciation Parish Church is a Catholic church in the center of Tržič, Slovenia, standing near the old town and a cemetery. The building has a single-nave hall, two chapels, and a dome, with plain exterior walls and an interior decorated with frescoes, stained glass windows, and painted altars.
The current church was built in 1808 on the site of an earlier building from the 16th century, and construction was completed by 1815. The parish itself dates back to the late 15th century, when Tržič became an important religious center in the region.
The frescoes inside the church were painted by Leopold Layer and show religious scenes alongside moments from local history. One of the side altar paintings shows the fire that swept through Tržič in 1811, linking faith and town memory in an unusual way.
The church is within easy walking distance of Tržič town center and can also be reached by car, with parking available nearby. Since it is an active parish church, it is worth avoiding service times if you want to visit the interior without interruption.
The organ inside the church was built in 1934 by organ maker Jenk and is still in use today. It sits on a balcony on the west side of the building and can still be heard during services and special events.
