Tartini Square, Central square in Piran, Slovenia
The expansive marble-paved square features Venetian Gothic buildings surrounding a central bronze statue of violinist Giuseppe Tartini.
Originally an inner harbor for fishing boats in medieval times, the square was transformed into a public space in 1894 after authorities filled the dock.
The square hosts regular concerts and performances, connecting to the musical heritage of Giuseppe Tartini, the renowned violinist born in Piran.
Free minibus services transport visitors from parking facilities in Fornače to the square, as private vehicles are restricted in the area.
The square underwent substantial renovation with the addition of an elliptical white stone platform designed by architect Boris Podrecca.
