Description
Konjice Castle is a fortified structure that stands on the northern slopes of Mount Konjice with stone walls spreading across multiple hillside levels. The remains show how the building adapted to the land, creating different sections at various elevations.
History
This castle first appeared in records in 1148 as property of the house of Gonobitz and later transferred among several noble families. By the 18th century it had been left behind and fell into ruin.

The ruins sit near the Zmajček Forest Educational Trail, where people learn about local plants and regional mountain traditions. This place shows how the community values its natural heritage alongside its past.

Access is via marked hiking trails that begin from Slovenske Konjice town center, with parking available at the trailhead. The walk is moderately challenging and passes through forest with occasional open views along the way.
