Banská Bystrica, Mountain summit in High Tatras, Slovakia
Eistaler Spitze is a mountain summit in the High Tatras located in northern Slovakia, rising to 2,627 meters. The peak features granite rock formations and provides several climbing routes for mountaineers of different experience levels.
The first recorded ascent took place in 1843 when climbers John Ball, Wilhelm Richter, and Carl Ritter summited with local mountain guides. This early achievement marked the beginning of the peak's exploration by international mountaineers.
The mountain carries different names in various languages—Ľadový štít in Slovak and Lodowy Szczyt in Polish—reflecting the multicultural character of this mountain region. These varied names show how different peoples have interacted with and understood this landscape over time.
You can reach the summit by several routes, including an easier option and more demanding paths like the ice ridge from Tery hut. Plan adequate time and bring equipment appropriate for your chosen route.
The southeast wall features the Grósz route and Brnčal pillar, which offer technical climbing challenges in granite. These less-known paths appeal to experienced climbers seeking demanding granite ascents.
